Inquiry into School Councils
The Northern Ireland Assembly Committee for Education is holding an Inquiry into School Councils.
The aim of the Inquiry is to champion and celebrate the work of School Councils in Northern Ireland. It will examine the experience, operation and contribution of School Councils in Northern Ireland, with a view to identifying ways to support and enhance their work.
| The Assembly Committee for Education launched its inquiry into Schools Councils on Wednesday 19th October 2011. Listen to the interview with the Committee Chair, Mervyn Storey, explaining why the Committee is holding this inquiry. |
On 25 and 26 October Committee Members travelled to Limavady to meet with pupils, principals, governors and staff of the schools which make up the Roe Valley Learning Community. Committee Members saw shared classes in operation in St Mary’s, Limavady Grammar and Limavady High School and heard from pupils studying some GCSEs or A levels and in their ‘home’ school and other courses in a partner school. Having just launched the Committee’s Inquiry into School Councils on 19 October, Members were also very interested to meet with the pupil representatives on the joint school council and hear about their experiences.
