Assembly and Executive Review Committee
The Assembly & Executive Review Committee is established under the Northern Ireland Act 1998. Its role is to review matters relating to the functioning of the Assembly and the Executive.
In particular, the Committee is required to review and report on the operation of Parts III and IV of the Northern Ireland Act 1998.Part III deals with Executive Authorities and Part IV deals with a range of areas including Assembly Elections and Assembly Proceedings etc.
The Committee recently carried out a 'Review of the Initial Ministerial Provision in relation to the Department of Justice and the arrangements from 1 May 2012'. You can view a copy of its Report of this Review here.
The Committee Chairperson is Mr Stephen Moutray.
The Assembly Executive Review Committee will meet on Tuesday 15th May at 11.00am in room 29, Parliament Buildings. During the meeting, the Committee will consider an Assembly Research Paper on the Committee’s Review of Parts III and IV of the Northern Ireland Act in the context of the Size of the NI Assembly and number of NI Departments. The Committee will also go into closed session to discuss the Review and upcoming Committee Report on the Review.
