The Chief Executive’s Office is made up of the following Business Areas, which report to the Clerk/Chief Executive
Office of the Speaker
The staff of the Speaker’s Office support the Speaker, the Principal Deputy Speaker and the Deputy Speakers in the exercise of their statutory and non-statutory duties.
Examiner of Statutory Rules
The role of the Examiner of Statutory Rules is to carry out the technical scrutiny of statutory rules (subordinate legislation) laid before the Assembly by the eleven Northern Ireland Departments. The Examiner reports on a regular basis to the Statutory Committees and the Assembly as a whole.
Clerk/Chief Executive Office
This offices provides support to the Clerk/Chief Executive, eg, strategic and business planning and monitoring. The office also supports the Commission and the Secretariat Management Group. The office contains the Equality Unit which supports the Commission to ensure that it is compliant with all of the statutory requirements of Section 75 (1 & 2) of the NI Act and Section 49A of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
